How PTP helps mobile operators meet the timing demands of 5G. Time and Frequency. Time and frequency synchronisation have always been important for mobile networks. As Open RAN architectures gain momentum and are adopted for 5G deployments, the PTP timing flows will be terminated in the 5G radios and the DU is no longer required to be part of the timing chain form the Grandmaster Clock to the 5G radio.
